Everyone is buzzing to right some wrongs - Earl
Ben Earl is thoroughly enjoying his rugby at present.
The 21-year-old featured twice during the Premiership Rugby Cup and started Saracens’ first Gallagher Premiership game of the season, assisting Matt Gallagher’s try against Northampton Saints.
Academy product Earl made a game-high four turnovers and 14 tackles last weekend in an impressive personal display and says the group are looking to build on their performance level from the opening day.
Earl made a game-high four turnovers against Saints last time out.
He said: “All we want to do is run out there and we have the opportunity to do that for the next few weeks so we’re all about enjoyment at the moment even though we’re seeing it as an opportunity.
“Pre-season was pretty savage, we did a lot of hard work, a lot of good work, and we have the people in place to make sure that we’re doing the correct things.
“We’ve all come into the season in good nick, not too many injuries touch wood, so we think we’re in a good place and we had a really good four weeks in the Premiership Rugby Cup.
“Two minutes shorter on Saturday and we’d be cock-a-hoop right now, so we’ve got things in perspective. We know where we’re at and we’re looking forward to building on that.”
Sarries head to Leicester Tigers on Sunday in Round 2 of the Premiership looking to record their first victory of the league campaign.
Tigers are notorious for their forward game and Earl is relishing going head-to-head with their pack at Welford Road.
“I think everyone is buzzing to right some wrongs from the game on Saturday.
“We’re playing away at one of the great grounds of English rugby and we know exactly the challenge that is coming for us. It’s going to be a big forward battle and we’re much prepared for that.
“We’ve prepared well over the past couple of days and we’ve got plans in place to hopefully be successful.”
