SARACENS WOMEN SIGN GREGSON
Saracens Women are delighted to announce the signing of Sydney Gregson.
The 22-year-old left Bristol Bears Women at the end of last season after three years with the club while she studied for a degree at the University of Bath.
After graduating earlier this year, Gregson headed to Australia and has spent the summer playing for the University of Sydney.
A fast and fleet-footed wing, she was a standout performer for Bristol in the Tyrrells Premier 15s last term and terrorised defences with her pace and power.
Head coach Alex Austerberry said: “It’s great news that we can announce Syndey Gregson will be joining the club. She’s been capped at international level and has a wealth of experience in the Premiership from her time at Bristol.
“She’s going to add real quality and we know she will make an immediate impact, but she also has great potential.
“We know she has a lot of things she wants to achieve and fulfil in her career, and we feel that Saracens can offer her the opportunity to really maximise her talents and fulfil those goals. I’m sure it’s going to be a great partnership.”
Gregson said: "I'm delighted to have signed for Saracens and I can't wait to get stuck back in to playing 15s after playing sevens for the past few months.
"The club has a fantastic set-up and a very talented group of players so I'm really excited to join them and see what the season can bring."
Gregson’s first game for Saracens could be against her old club, as she will be available for selection from Saturday 3rd November, when the Women in Black travel to Bristol.
Sarries have also signed Tilly Vaughan-Fowler, who like Gregson has been playing rugby down under recently.
Austerberry added: “It’s great to have Tilly joining as well – she is another quality addition to the squad.”
