Seven selected in 35-man England squad
[mepr-show if="rule: 4642"]Seven Saracens players have been named in England’s official Rugby World Cup 2019 training squad.
Academy products Owen Farrell, Jamie George, Maro Itoje, Ben Spencer and Jack Singleton have all been selected with Billy Vunipola and new recruit Elliot Daly also included in a list of 35.
Mako Vunipola and George Kruis will continue their rehabilitation in camp and are still considered for selection.
The squad will assemble at The Lensbury Hotel on Sunday 7th July for England's first official training camp.
Head coach Eddie Jones said: “We can’t wait to have the full squad in place and to have players competing for those 31 places. It is a process of building the team up, building the cohesion, the tactical understanding of the team and our adaptability. We will need to get those things right to win the World Cup, and that is our aim.”
England will play Wales (11th August) and Ireland (24th August) at Twickenham Stadium and Italy (6th September) in Newcastle as part of the Quilter Internationals as well as an away fixture against Wales (17th August) in Cardiff.
England will travel to Treviso, Italy for a heat camp from 22nd July until 2nd August before returning to Italy on 28th August until 5th September. The squad will also be based in Bristol for a week in July (14th-18th) and in August (12th-16th) ahead of England’s away match against Wales. For the two matches against Wales and Ireland at Twickenham Stadium, the squad will train at Pennyhill Park.
England will begin their Rugby World Cup campaign in Japan against Tonga in Sapporo (22nd September, KO 11H15 UK time) before playing USA Rugby in Kobe (26th September, KO 11H45 UK time), Argentina in Tokyo (5th October, KO 09H00 UK time) and France in Yokohama (12th October, KO 09H15 UK time).
