Weekend Round Up | Wins all round for Saracens!

It was a memorable weekend for all of the Saracens teams, and in this new feature we’ll bring you up to date with all of the action from the Men, Women and Mavericks.

Saracens Men

The Men in Black were at their clinical best against Bath on Saturday afternoon at StoneX, registering a 40-3 bonus point win in front of supporters in the new West Stand for the first time. Tom Woolstencroft scored twice, whilst Alex Goode, Alex Lewington and Theo McFarland also crossed the line as Sarries stayed second in the Gallagher Premiership with a big win.

They welcome Harlequins on Sunday in what could prove to be a crucial match in the race for the top four. 

Saracens Women 

Alex Austerberry’s side registered arguably their best win of the season so far as they consolidated their place at the Allianz Premier 15s. They made the short trip to the Twickenham Stoop to face local rivals Harlequins, and got revenge for the defeat in December with a convincing 22-8 win. 

Holly Aitchison, Marlie Packer and Vicky Fleetwood scored in front of a bumper crowd in West London, and they can now look forward to a rest weekend before facing Gloucester-Hartpury at StoneX on Saturday 19th February. 

Saracens Mavericks

The Mavericks started their season with a double header in Birmingham, and got off to the perfect start with two wins from two. They began with a 59-49 win over Wasps where Kadeen Corbin put in a Player of the Match performance, and then they built on that with a 60-54 triumph up against Celtic Dragons. 

Ine-Mari Venter had 95% shooting accuracy to get the Player of the Match award, and that has put them in a great position before their first home match against London Pulse on Friday evening. 

Internationals 

With the start of the Guinness Six Nations there were plenty of Saracens players in action. Maro Itoje, Nick Isiekwe, Elliot Daly and Max Malins all started in England’s narrow defeat to Scotland, whilst Jamie George came off the bench for Eddie Jones’ side. 

Nick Tompkins started for Wales who were beaten by Ireland in Dublin, but once again the club were immensely proud of all of those who were featuring on the global stage.
